BIG PARTY!

Today, we were all invited to a Big Party! Jake's school received a grant from Aiming High, a Devon County Council scheme to spend before the end of March, so a big party was planned. First of all we went to The Alexandra cinema for a private viewing of Gnomeo and Juliet, Jensen enjoyed it all the way through although our time was spent supervising Jake as he explored the whole cinema, the fire exits, the toilets, the upstairs cinema screens, even the projectionist's room! It was a very old projector, one of those which you had intervals in the middle of films years ago, but they are getting a new one in a few weeks costing £100,000.00. But it was all ok, everyone attending knew everyone and understood!

Afterwards, we went to The Penn Inn for a buffet lunch, Jake was more interested in running around playing in the car so we sat outside, it was a lovely sunny day ...

Then we had to get a few things in Sainsbury, wo thought we would try to take Jake along with us as we had seen a video of him shopping with Hayley last week being good. I wrote a list. Jake pushed the trolley, I showed him the list and said what we had to get. A surprisingly successful shopping trip, although he had to get two washing powders at the end ! Oh well, it will all get used up in the end!

Now we are back home relaxing for the rest of the weekend ....

Riding bikes at Bovey Heathfield today...

Jensen has a new bike, so off we went to Bovey Heathfield as it was such a lovely day. Jakey was desperate to go out riding, but we can't really let him out to play on his own, so we took them both to the heath with the dogs (unless of course Jake climbed the tree in the back garden, somehow managed to get the bike out and go riding around the neighbourhood in his PJs at 6am this morning, haha!)

They both had lots of fun, afterwards both had a turn driving the Bongo before setting off back home.

More Meetings ...

Tuesday 25th January 2011!

Today we had a multi disciplinary meeting at Jake's school with his social working, clinical learning and disabilities nurse, conker's key worker, conker's care manager and the school pastor. Discussing Jake's behaviours at home and at school and ideas to help him understand. Today the suggestion is that we get an egg timer for him to watch when we want him to wait for something, or take his turn on something ..... we can only but try!!!!
